Mahānavamī
Today is Mahānavamī.
devyā yayā tatamidaṁ jagadātmaśaktyā
niḥśeṣadevagaṇaśaktisamūhamūrtyā|
tāmambikāmakhiladevamaharṣipūjyāṁ
bhaktyā natāḥ sma vidadhātu śubhāni sā naḥ||
The Devī, who is the manifested form of the collective energy of the gods, who dwells by enveloping the universe with her immense and innate power; I bow in devotion before that Ambikā, worshipped by all the gods and ṛṣis. May She make our world auspicious.

Mahāṣṭamī
Today is mahāṣṭamī.
durge smṛtā harasi bhītimaśeṣajantoḥ
svasthaiḥ smṛtā matimatīva śubhāṁ dadāsi|
dāridraduḥkhabhayahāriṇi kā tvadanyā
sarvopakārakāraṇāya sadārdracittā||
Devī, when the troubled folks remember you during their bad times, you remove their fears. When the wise ones remember you during good times, you grant them wisdom. O remover of poverty, sorrow and fears, who else do we have but you, ever-merciful and kind-hearted, who is constantly thinking of our wellbeing?
